Volunteer with ACOHOF — Remote and On-site Opportunities

The Afoni Children of Hope Foundation (ACOHOF) is a registered nonprofit organization in Cameroon. Our work supports vulnerable children, internally displaced people and rural communities through education, vocational training, humanitarian assistance and community-led development.

How Volunteers Can Help

We welcome people and organizations that can contribute relevant time, skills and experience. Possible areas of support include education and vocational training, communications, fundraising, project development, renewable-energy initiatives, community outreach and support for internally displaced people. Each role and its responsibilities are agreed with ACOHOF before a placement begins.

Remote and On-site Volunteering

Remote volunteers may support suitable assignments from their home countries. All ACOHOF on-site volunteer placements are currently based in Bankim, in Cameroon’s Adamawa Region, where our main offices, schools and community activities are now located. Accommodation and placement arrangements must be confirmed directly with ACOHOF before any travel is booked.

Why You Should Volunteer with ACOHOF

Volunteers can contribute to the work of two growing institutions:
• The ACOHOF Family Farm School, serving approximately 95 students.
• The ACOHOF Bilingual Technical College of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, serving approximately 155 students.

Our school dormitories currently accommodate approximately 65 girls and 55 boys. Depending on their experience and the needs of the schools, volunteers may support education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, student activities, administration and community-development programmes.

Volunteer Accommodation

ACOHOF has a guest house within the school’s staff quarters. It has three bedrooms, a sitting room and an indoor kitchen, providing practical accommodation close to the volunteer activities.

About Bankim and Volunteer Safety

Bankim is several hundred kilometres from Cameroon’s Far North Region, where Boko Haram-linked violence has been concentrated. Based on more than five years of continuous operations in the town, ACOHOF can describe Bankim as relatively peaceful, with a friendly and welcoming local community.

Security conditions can change, so every placement is considered individually. Prospective volunteers should consult current government travel advice, obtain suitable insurance and complete an ACOHOF safety briefing before travelling. ACOHOF will share current local information and practical arrival guidance with accepted volunteers.
