ACOHOF Bilingual Technical Vocational College of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship (ATVOCAE)
Motto: Training Skills • Building Entrepreneurs • Creating Futures
The ACOHOF Bilingual Technical Vocational College of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship (ATVOCAE) is a mission-driven, non-profit technical and vocational institution located in Bankim, Mayo-Banyo Division, Cameroon. Established under the auspices of the Afoni Children of Hope Foundation (ACOHOF) (Reg. No.: E26/PS/118/11), ATVOCAE equips vulnerable, underserved, and marginalized youth with practical skills, entrepreneurial capacity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
ATVOCAE’s foundation is deeply rooted in resilience, adaptability, and a sustained commitment to impact. Originally established as the ACOHOF Family Farm School in Tatum (Bui Division), the institution played a pioneering role in delivering community-based agricultural training and outreach. However, the escalation of armed conflict in Cameroon’s Northwest and Southwest regions forced the temporary closure of operations, including the shutdown of its community radio station (FM 98.5), which had served as a vital platform for education, awareness, and community engagement.
In response to these challenges, and guided by its unwavering mission, ACOHOF successfully relocated the institution to Bankim in 2020. Through strong collaboration with administrative authorities, local leaders, and host communities, the school was re-established and expanded into a fully authorized and forward-looking technical and vocational secondary institution.
Today, ATVOCAE accommodates both boarding and day students and operates a fully bilingual system with Anglophone and Francophone sections. The college prepares learners for the Intermediate Technical and Vocational Education Examination (ITVEE), while prioritizing access for rural youth, vulnerable populations, and especially Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by the ongoing crisis.
A Message to the Next Generation: Redefining Opportunity in the Modern World
Across the world, young people are facing a rapidly evolving economic and employment landscape. The traditional belief that academic certificates alone guarantee employment has increasingly proven inadequate. Many graduates today possess qualifications but lack the practical competencies required to navigate real-world challenges or create independent opportunities.
At ATVOCAE, we recognize this global shift and respond with a different approach to education—one that emphasizes not only knowledge acquisition but also practical application, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking. We encourage young people to rethink their future not as a waiting period for employment, but as an opportunity to actively create value.
Students are trained to identify opportunities, use local resources effectively, and develop sustainable income-generating activities. Rather than preparing only to compete for limited jobs, ATVOCAE empowers learners to become creators of employment who can support families, build enterprises, and contribute to community development.
Our Purpose, Vision, and Mission
ATVOCAE addresses the socio-economic realities facing youth in underserved regions by bridging the gap between education and employability through practical, relevant, and transformative learning experiences.
Its purpose is to expand access to opportunity for disadvantaged populations by equipping learners with hands-on technical skills, entrepreneurial competencies, and strong ethical values. By doing so, the institution actively addresses youth unemployment, reduces vulnerability, and supports economic resilience at the household and community levels.
The institution’s vision is to become a leading rural center of excellence in technical and vocational training, with emphasis on sustainable agriculture, applied technology, and green enterprise development. ATVOCAE aims to demonstrate how rural education can drive inclusive, measurable, and long-term economic transformation.
Its mission is centered on delivering inclusive, high-quality, and market-relevant education that prepares learners not only for employment but also for self-employment. Through its programs, the institution seeks to strengthen food systems, enhance rural livelihoods, and equip youth with the knowledge and skills needed for production planning, financial management, and successful market engagement.
Forward-Thinking Innovation: Preparing Students for the Future (2026–2027 Expansion)
Recognizing the need to align with global technological and economic trends, ATVOCAE is implementing a major modernization of its curriculum beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. This strategic expansion is designed to ensure that students remain competitive in both local and global contexts.
The introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) fundamentals will equip learners with an understanding of automation, data systems, and their practical applications in agriculture, business, and resource management. By demystifying emerging technologies, the institution ensures that rural learners are not left behind in the digital transformation.
At the same time, expanded Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training will provide students with advanced digital literacy, software skills, and communication tools essential for modern productivity and entrepreneurship.
In response to growing energy challenges, Renewable Energy Systems, particularly solar power solutions, will be integrated into the curriculum. Students will receive hands-on training in installation, maintenance, and application of clean energy technologies, enabling them to provide affordable solutions within their communities.
Additionally, programs in Home Economics and Hospitality will be further developed to include professional training in catering, tailoring, and household resource management—offering immediate opportunities for self-employment and small business development.
Our Core Educational Departments
ATVOCAE’s academic structure is organized into specialized departments that combine technical training with entrepreneurship, ensuring that learning is always tied to real-world application and income generation.
The Department of Agriculture and Sustainable Livelihoods provides comprehensive training in climate-smart agriculture, soil science, crop production, and agro-business development. Students gain hands-on experience in poultry farming, piggery, aquaculture, and beekeeping while managing demonstration farms where they track production, costs, and profitability. This approach ensures that students understand agriculture not only as a means of subsistence but also as a viable and profitable business.
The Department of Business, Accounting, and Marketing equips students with essential financial and managerial skills. Training includes OHADA-compliant accounting systems, business mathematics, and digital marketing strategies. Students learn how to manage enterprises, understand market dynamics, and scale operations effectively.
The Department of Crafts and Domestic Sciences promotes creativity and self-reliance through practical training in tailoring, fashion design, and artisanal production. By leveraging local resources, students produce market-ready goods that can sustain small-scale enterprises.
The Department of Technology and Green Energy prepares students for a rapidly evolving digital world. Training in computer literacy, AI basics, renewable energy systems, and digital content creation ensures that learners develop versatile, future-ready skills applicable across multiple industries.
Campus Life, Student Welfare, and Inclusive Support Systems
ATVOCAE is committed to creating a holistic, safe, and supportive learning environment that extends far beyond academic instruction.
A central priority of the institution is its deliberate support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by the armed conflict in Cameroon’s Northwest and Southwest regions. Recognizing the trauma, instability, and heightened vulnerability these learners experience, the college has developed targeted systems to ensure their protection, stability, and academic continuity.
A key component of this support system is the boarding structure, which provides a secure and supervised residential environment. Students, particularly female learners, are accommodated in protected dormitory facilities with structured routines, controlled access, and monitoring practices that reinforce dignity, safety, and well-being.
Daily life on campus is also organized around strong welfare systems. Students—both boarders and many day students—take their meals in the school’s refectory, where food is prepared in a clean, regulated, and hygienic on-campus kitchen. This ensures that learners receive consistent, nutritious meals that support their health, energy levels, and academic focus.
To ensure safe and reliable mobility, the institution operates a 35-seater Toyota Coaster school bus that transports day students to and from the campus. Beyond routine transport, the bus is also important for experiential learning, as it enables excursions, alternance training, fieldwork, and practical visits, allowing students to engage directly with real-life environments and industry contexts.
Through the integration of safe accommodation, structured feeding, reliable transportation, and targeted IDP support, ATVOCAE provides a comprehensive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Admissions, Access, and Community Engagement
The institution maintains an inclusive admissions approach, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds, including those affected by displacement and economic hardship. By offering both day and boarding options, ATVOCAE ensures flexibility while upholding consistent standards of discipline and academic excellence.
Through its bilingual system, structured campus life, and comprehensive support services, the college continues to expand access to education while building a strong foundation for long-term development.
Contact and Institutional Engagement
ATVOCAE welcomes engagement from parents, educators, development partners, donors, and organizations seeking sustainable impact through technical education, youth empowerment, and rural enterprise development. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to contact the institution for admissions guidance, partnership discussions, campus visits, student sponsorship opportunities, and support for practical training initiatives.
Safeguarding & Inclusion Policy
ATVOCAE is firmly committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and protective environment for all learners. The institution upholds a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of abuse, exploitation, discrimination, and neglect.
The institution gives particular attention to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), ensuring that they receive priority protection, accommodation, and support. The boarding system operates under strict supervision protocols designed to safeguard especially vulnerable students, with a strong emphasis on protecting female learners.
All safeguarding concerns are handled confidentially, professionally, and promptly, ensuring accountability, follow-up, and the protection of every learner’s dignity and well-being.
Student Testimonials: Voices of Transformation
The lived experiences of ATVOCAE students best reflect the impact of the institution, as many have overcome significant challenges to rebuild their futures.
One student, displaced by the ongoing crisis, reflects on his journey by sharing how the institution restored his hope and provided him with a clear path forward. Having lost access to education due to conflict, he now sees himself as a future agribusiness owner, equipped with both skills and confidence.
Another student highlights the value of the college’s practical learning model, noting that daily hands-on activities—from managing livestock to installing solar equipment—have prepared him for real-world opportunities far beyond the classroom.
A female boarding student emphasizes the importance of a safe residential environment, explaining how the structured dormitory system has allowed her to focus on her studies without fear while gaining the discipline and confidence needed for independence.
Together, these voices show that ATVOCAE is more than an educational institution; it is a space of restoration, empowerment, and transformation.
